“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” - Mahatma Ghandi - We performed at the rehab facility in a hospital the other day and DAMNIT it was the best time I’ve had all year. I believe that Service = Happiness. Also the greater the need of the service being given the greater the happiness. We rocked that rehab gym like it was an arena. I dare you do to a random act of kindness today and see what it does to you. It’s magic. 📸 | @coop_hd
I remember walking out to street perform for the first time. I had a knot in my stomach and was absolutely terrified. I opened my case took out my guitar, took a deep breathe... and started singing. Literally like 10 seconds in I heard “Sir do you have a performers permit.” A guy with a clip board was shouting at me. Embarrassed and already feeling like a TOTAL imposter I shouted “I didn’t know I was supposed to...” and basically ran away as fast as I could. The next day I woke up and walked my ass down to city hall and figured it out. The whole time questioning myself. While it was a tiny awkward interaction that seemed small it was actually me taking a big step in a direction being okay with failing. It started the momentum. When you have dreams just getting in the game and realizing you don’t know what your doing can hold people up for YEARS. I dare you to jump in today. Look stupid, plow forward and adjust. We all need what you have to bring.
To me, this song is about loving someone through all of the layers of the good and the bad. And, after seeing the response to this song on tour, I knew I had to do a duet. @elleking was the PERFECT CHOICE because of her gritty and authentic vibe. Go listen now!
Little girls punch WAY above their weight on the joy meter. Just dropped my daughter off at preschool and she sang LOUD the whole way there. I’m in line and a little girl just threw off her coat and is twirling recklessly in her fluffy dress in this coffee shop. I looked at the Dad and he smiled like “I’m trying to be hipster and cynical but it’s impossible next to a twirling little girl.” I CANNOT BELIEVE I’m getting another one. We are around two months out and it’s getting more real everyday. Leave a 👧 if you got a little girl that literally lights up your world. 📸 @elizabethlague

Got to play a hockey arena in Iowa and it was really sweet. My mother was born in Iowa and anytime I go there I feel like I am her life’s work returning back to her home state. I stared into the spotlight during She’d say and and I’m pretty sure she winked at me 😉 #iowa#hockey 📸 | @coop_hd
Like everyone else still just working through the loss of Kobe and how it’s affecting us. This is when me and my manager got to quickly tell him what he represented to us. A relentlessness of purpose that was unmatched. Also really connecting to the #girldad trend as I’m waiting for my next little girl to arrive in a few months. I teared up randomly in my house yesterday watching a clip of him talk about his daughters. It’s crazy feeling the void of him in this world and kind of underestimating how much he affected me when he was here. When we chase our purpose fully we give everyone we come in contact with permission to chase theirs. Sending you love Kobe.
Artists are fear fighters. We write songs and we play shows or we paint or we dance, but really what we do is fight the fear that we will be terrible. That we’re not good enough, that our best days are behind us, that we’ll never have our best day’s. We battle our self doubt to try and bring something beautiful into the world. Those of us that fight fear long enough eventually catch something beautiful. The world is always so happy we kept fighting. 📸 | @coop_hd
