The definition of a full day: putting in a half-day at work, then driving 45 minutes to go and hike (according to my phone) for around 17 miles. The initial climb, up Anthony’s Nose (a legit mountain name) was killer, climbing something like 750 feet in no more than a mile, probably slightly less to half a mile. Anthony’s Nose itself was magnificent, though kinda crowded with city slickers (I prefer to quiet and solitude when I go out hiking). I then hiked to the monastery at Graymoor (the killer climb at the start, as well as the hike to Graymoor were all on the Appalachian Trail). Though rocky in parts, and with a few, short though steep ups and downs, it was a cake walk compared to that first climb.
After surprising myself by [barely] getting back to my car before dark, thus not needing to use my headlamp while scrambling back down the killer climb that I started with, I then drove up Bear Mountain to catch the dregs of sunset.
