How do you reward yourself for a job well done? There are so many tiny victories along the path to our audacious goals. Before I helped my first client on my own, I had to study and pass my insurance licensing exam and securities exams.
To be honest, I didn’t really believe I had it in me to pass these tests that so many others have failed on their first attempt. Having been stuck in one place for so long, I didn’t have the confidence that I could do this. I had two things pushing me through the difficult.
First, it was this dream in my heart to help other single mothers like me get their finances in order and to help families set better financial foundations for their children. I had so many restless nights, tossing and turning, trying to figure out how I’m supposed to make a difference.
The second was faith, I just gave it all up to God. I prayed for the provision to do His will. I prayed for Him to change my heart and change my mind so that I could become the right vessel to help people.
By the grace of God, I persisted and triumphed. And can I just tell you how incredibly proud I felt? You know it wasn’t even just the tests, although I was glad I passed them all the first time.
It was the fact that I’ve come so incredibly far in my personal growth. I’ve overcome unbearable obstacles. I allowed them to break me open and finally I am becoming free to be who I’m meant to be. But even more important, It was the feeling that I allowed myself to trust God completely again. I didn’t allow the questions of why God hates me or why is God punishing me to poison my thoughts.
So on this day, I rewarded myself by just giving all glory to God for seeing me through all my darkest times. For showing me what good I have left to do in my life and for giving me a platform to truly make a difference in people’s lives. I just basked in His glory and blessing and allowed myself to feel the lightness of His unconditional love.
