Unexpected friendships are the best thing. This Serbian woman right here told me that my name Danica is in fact originally from Serbia; & that it’s pronounced differently—a cute ice breaker for our cold personalities I suppose. We were never interested to get to know each other but our connection organically blossomed ‘cos of our similar “IDGAF” attitude. Albeit that was the case, I fell in love with her “real-talking” ways (no bs, just truths). That personality kept me sane whilst juggling work & battling the creeping feeling of homesickness. I admire her strong heart, plausible sense of judgment, sarcastic wit, moodswings, and bittersweet vibe. That’s exactly what I want and/need from a friend... like her attitude is tailored for me.
‘Nuff with the wishy-washy. I might be blue once you leave (don’t even mention the winter makin’ me isolate myself in the room all the time) but I am excited & happy for you. I’ll miss our late night pistachio 🥜 sessions, gym workouts, coffee dates, and most especially just being roommates. Volim te, Jelica. Best of luck in everything 💜 Keep in touch. - Danica (your Serbian homie)
