Eat more & lose weight?⠀ ⠀ Yup, you can eat more food & lose weight.⠀ ⠀ Not more in the sense of calories, you can’t fool thermodynamics but you can fool your stomach.⠀ ⠀ When I say more, I mean eat food with a higher gram/calorie ratio. More voluminous foods, more fruits, more veg, more fibrous grains. More nutrient dense foods as opposed to energy dense ones. (Swipe for examples) ⠀ A key aspect of being successful at weight loss & maintaining that loss will be if you can stay satiated. Foods with lower energy density will typically take up far more room in your stomach, take longer to eat & digest meaning you will be fuller for longer. ⠀ ⠀ Add in some extra protein & you have a winning formula for weight loss as well as improving body composition.⠀ ⠀ It’s outdated thinking that you have to restrict & take away from your diet to lose weight. Really you should looking to see what you can add in to improve it.⠀ ⠀ When you start looking to improve your diet, fill in the cracks by optimising the nutrients you need. When you try to maximise this, the excess energy will take care of itself.⠀ ⠀ Calories ultimately still matter but by increasing the nutrient density of your diet, the protein, the fibre, the fruit & veg then you will be in control of your intake. ⠀ ⠀ No need to track, just build good habits by eating like an adult.⠀Photo cred: MASS @helms3dmj

I tend to over complicate things in all aspects of life. Bench is the one that really stands out as something I overcomplicate in lifting. I’ve hit 474 almost 3 years ago and then have been down in the 425-450 range since. It’s the lift I want to bring up the most, but I haven’t been prioritizing it. I would skip bench sessions because I usually will squat first, and if I thought I didn’t have time to squat and bench I would skip the workout. lol How about just skip the squats and do the benching??? That’s what I did here. Get in, hit some reps, couple quick accessories, get out. And at some point I just need to commit to getting bigger upper body muscles. Chest, shoulders and upper back have seen little attention over the years. ◾Maximum Effort Upper Body– Incline Close Grip Bench Press◾ This was again our first time doing this exercise.  In my head I wanted to at least work up to 90kgs for 3 reps.  I managed 85kgs which felt good so decided to max out and go for 92.5kgs.  As you can see by the video the 3rd rep was a struggle and someone cut the video short as they thought I wouldn’t complete the rep and needed help getting the bar back up, but I can assure you that I did. Alexandra managed to hit a triple at 57.5kgs which she was really happy about. Oh, and if you watch her clip make sure you pay attention to how I spot her.  You will notice that I don’t touch the bar, I give her time to see if she can complete the rep by herself. This is the correct way to spot someone. My hands are close enough to grab the bar before it falls on her if she fails the lift. As usual we moved on to our accessory work which consisted of working our ticeps, lats, upper back, and biceps.
